Bourgeois Custom Vintage D Madagascar Varnish
2011 Bourgeois Vintage D Custom with Adirondack top, Madagascar rosewood back and sides and varnish finish!
Built for the IBMA bluegrass festival by Dana himself, this is without doubt the finest Bourgeois dreadnought we’ve ever laid our hands on and is a prime example of them pushing boundaries on what is already a classic guitar design. Based on a Pre War Martin D28 with a premium Adirondack top and an absolutely stunning Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, this adds an extra dimension to an already winning combo through ingenious bracing changes making it a little bit sweeter in the highs without losing any of that wonderful dreadnought bass quality. This really is a stunner! To top it all off this guitar has also been finished with a massively labour intensive varnish finish, which is more flexible than say a nitro one and really helps the top vibrate and resonate. This was a major upcharge when offered and is no longer an option due to the sheer amount of time and effort it required.
Tonally this guitar has that incredible Bourgeois balance and sweetness, combined with a dry woody warmth and it’s a pleasure to play and hear. It’s in superb, nigh on pristine, condition throughout with only a very slight bit of fretwear in the early positions to show it’s been played and it comes with it’s deluxe hardcase.
